An excellent tourist attraction for its natural beauty and heavenly waters of the lagoon is Asososca, a small lagoon to preserve the centuries pass. 

This beautiful site is located northwest of La Paz Centro, 6 km northwest of Puerto Momotombo on the southern slope of El Hoyo volcanic massif.

An interesting fact is that this gap, the gaps between all craters country, the Asososca presents a unique case because its waters are at the bottom of a crater type MAAR. 

Thousands of years ago, as a result of explosive activity was formed oval depression and little deep Asososca. Shortly after water covered the floor of the new crater and erosion began the process of sedimentation of the cavity. 




Asososca is not to scare the visitors, taking into account that the hollow DE4 training occurred in less than 5 minutes. While the water contains a high content of dissolved salts, they are drinking and served that purpose for the residents surrounding the cologne before. Hence its name, which Chorotega means "place where water is plentiful." 

Asososca with 60 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 1000 meters and an area of 812,000 cubic meters, the maximum depth is 35 meters and its temperature is 29C. 

In Nicaragua there are different "MAAR" the oldest of Asososca, such as volcanic mountains of San Cristobal, and Telica hole, but his pockets are full of sediment.
